"Burma Rising", a fund raiser and exhibition of 14 Myanmar artists from River Gallery, was held in The Hamptons, just outside of New York on Long Island , on July 14th this year. George and Joan Hornig, noted philanthropists, generously opened their beautiful house and invited their many friends and contacts along to the event. It was the first time that many of these New Yorkers had experienced Myanmar contemporary art, and the reaction was overwhelmingly positive. "We didn't know there were som many great artists in Burma" was a typical comment. The Cetana Educational Foundation benefited from a percentage of art sales and donations from the guests.
